DOCTOR
Board certified in Pediatrics, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, 2010. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, 2012, 2017. Board Certified Practitioner in Functional Medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine, 2018-present. Pediatric Residency at Levine Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, NC. 2007-2010. Doctorate of Medicine from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, 2007. Gold Humanism Honor Society for Outstanding Patient Care, 2007. Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, summa cum laude, North Carolina State University, 2003. Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, summa cum laude, North Carolina State University, 2003. Diana’s story . . . Diana was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and she graduated from Myers Park High School. During college, she spent time in Central America doing medical mission work, which solidified her desire to work in the health care field. Diana earned a doctorate of medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and she completed a pediatric residency at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. She soon realized that caring for children would be a life-long calling and passion. After graduating from residency, Diana practiced the full spectrum of pediatrics in private practice, including clinic and hospital care. She admired how general pediatricians practiced old-fashion medicine in the modern era. They listened to their patients and they got to know them well. This relationship guided their medical treatment. Diana’s perspective on pediatric care changed when she became a mother herself. Her desire to support breastfeeding mothers in giving their infants the best nutrition from birth, lead her to pursue training as a lactation specialist. Being a lactation consultant has allowed her to help mothers overcome breastfeeding challenges and to have successful breastfeeding experiences. In addition receiving training as a lactation consultant, Diana felt the desire to address the underlying causes of complex medical problems in her patients. She was often frustrated by managing the symptoms of chronic diseases in her patients, without changing the course of their illness. Diana pursued advanced training in functional medicine to understand the root causes of disease in the body. She uses this training to successfully partner with patients and families to take an active role in restoring and optimizing their child’s health. Diana believes that being a parent is the one of the “hardest jobs we will ever love” and that children are special gifts to families. Living Water Pediatrics is her vision of making pediatric care uncomplicated and personalized. To overcome today’s fragmented, impersonal, and complex health care system for patients and physicians alike. When Diana is not providing pediatric care, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matthew and their two daughters, Elia and Lucia. She loves to cook, to travel the world and to appreciate art. She spends time with her church community and doing outdoor activities. Lastly, her favorite children’s books are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Chronicles of Narnia . Diana welcomes you to call and find out more about our practice, in hopes that you and your child will feel a part of the Living Water Pediatrics practice family.

DOCTOR
Board certified in Pediatrics, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, 2010 Clinical training in Functional Medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine, 2020-present Pediatric Residency at Levine Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, NC, 2007-2010 Doctorate of Medicine from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, 2007 Alpha Omega Alpha, National Medical Honor Society Bachelor of Science, Davidson College, 2003; Phi Beta Kappa; Omicron Delta Kappa Elizabeth grew up in Pennsylvania but has been a North Carolina resident since attending Davidson College. Her interest in medicine started in childhood, when she and her grandfather, a family physician, would play “office hours” with her stuffed animals. In high school, while shadowing her own family physician, Elizabeth developed an interest in preventative medicine with an emphasis on the doctor-patient relationship. Elizabeth earned a Doctorate of Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she was recognized with the Pediatric Merit Award. She completed her residency at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. After residency, she practiced primary care pediatrics in the Charlotte area, gaining valuable experience in both well and sick care. During that time, she became a mother of two children, which greatly informed how she wanted to practice medicine going forward; realizing that parenthood is a challenging and often scary endeavor, she recognizes the value of a partnership between parents and their pediatrician. Providing parents with a safe space where they can ask questions in an unhurried and caring environment became Elizabeth’s mission. She joined Living Water Pediatrics to get back to a trusting patient-doctor relationship. Another sentinel event that changed Elizabeth’s perspective on the healthcare system was experiencing medical challenges personally; she began to investigate how to restore health by addressing the root causes of chronic illnesses. As a life-long learner, Elizabeth has pursued advanced training in functional medicine. She is inspired to use personalized lifestyle and holistic medicine to address chronic illnesses and to optimize wellness for her patients. Elizabeth believes that nurturing a connected patient-doctor partnership sets the stage for a healing environment. Outside of work, Elizabeth devotes her time to her children, Michael and Mae, and enjoys watching them grow and change daily. She spends her free time connecting with family and friends. Elizabeth loves to read, cook, explore Charlotte’s greenways, and watch the Pittsburgh Penguins. Elizabeth welcomes you to call and find out more about our practice, in hopes that you and your child will feel a part of the Living Water Pediatrics practice family.
